Wholesale Benefits for ISPs
RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service)
is one of the most widely used Internet dial-up standards adopted by IKANO. RADIUS services for IKANO extends the role of IKANO by allowing administrators to consolidate their dial-up access, enabling a single point of user administration.
RADIUS is a client/server protocol and software that enables remote access servers to communicate with a central server to authenticate dial-in users and authorize their access to the IKANO aggregated Network-of-Networks. RADIUS maintains user profiles in a central database that all remote servers can share. It provides better security, allowing a policy that can be applied at a single administered network point. Having a central service also means that it's easier to track usage for billing and for keeping network statistics.
RADIUS Services from IKANO provides the following benefits:
- Single sign on. An end-user logs in once and can access all assigned resources without entering other passwords.
- Reliability. RADIUS Services for IKANO allows for multiple remote-access servers. One is configured as the Primary RADIUS server, and any number as backup servers. With this redundancy, users should always have access to a
RADIUS server.
- Single point administration.
