JOB TITLE: Programmer
REPORTS TO: Director of Programming
IKANO, the world's largest provider of private-label Internet services, is seeking an APPLICATION DEVELOPER with at least 2 years experience with Java, PERL and an excellent understanding of Internet technologies. Experience with Linux, PostgreSQL, MYSQL and MS SQL preferred. Excellent compensation including a full benefits package

SUMMARY:
To write high caliber computer software for Ikano management, Ikano customers, VISP owners, Franchise owners, Ikano partners and end users. May maintain existing infrastructure with code updates, database changes, scripting, etc. Provide support to new Ikano endeavors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Write code to further develop Ikano's services and products
- Write code to support Ikano's business objects
- Mentor other personnel on the programming team
- Work with project management to meet milestones and goals
- Provide primary/backup support to managed systems
- Wear cell phone and be available for calls
- Occasionally interact with Ikano's clients
- Provide reasonable work estimates
- Write and complete unit testing
- Provide technical insight to Ikano and it's clients
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess high competency in at least one programming language (Java preferred)
- Must understand object oriented programming
- Must be able to programmatically work with at least one of the major database backends (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc)
- Must have strong knowledge of the internet
- Must have strong knowledge of existing internet technologies
- Must have knowledge of an Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- Must be a team player
- Must have the ability to coach other team members
- Must be able to communicate clearly
- Must be able to learn quickly
- Must be willing to work under stressful situations
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Must be self managed
- Must be willing to learn/master new technologies
- Must always be learning within the ISP industry
- Must be willing (and able) to train others
- Software design ability
- Knowledgeable in software development methodologies
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- College degree in computer science or related field.
- Practical experience may be substituted for formal training.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in the English language.
- Must be able to write e-mail and technical support tickets in a clear and concise manner.
- Must be able to comment code in clear and concise manner.
MATH ABILIITY:
- Must be able to perform at least basic arithmetic. Preference is given to those who demonstrate high math aptitude.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- This job requires the programmer to type and view a computer monitor.
- Open cubical.
- Nine hour shift with one hour lunch break.
- Schedule is 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday.
