IKANO Press Releases:
Title: IKANO AIDS INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS WITH NEW 'EMERGENCY CUSTOMER RETENTION TEAM'
Date: July 9th, 2001
For Release: IMMEDIATE
SALT LAKE CITY - IKANO Communications, Inc., a market-leading Full-Service Provider (FSP), today announced the formation of its new "Emergency Customer Retention Team." The purpose of the team is to help Internet Service Providers (ISPs) quickly transition from defunct wholesale connectivity providers to IKANO's global network, while maintaining the end-user relationship.
"A shakeout is going on in the Internet services business," said Henry Smith, IKANO CEO. "Several service providers are learning that their wholesale access provider is going out of business, and are scrambling to find low-cost, high-quality service. Most importantly, they need someone who can help them migrate their subscriber base to a new provider before it's too late," he said.
IKANO created the Emergency Customer Retention Team in response to the recent trend of wholesale connectivity providers closing down operations such as PSINet (http://www.psinet.com/news/pr/01/june1.html) and ZipLink, Inc. (http://www.ziplink.com/ziplink/press/111700.shtml)
IKANO purchased the Canadian operations of ZipLink when it ceased operations. The central goal of the Emergency Customer Retention Team is to help ISPs transparently migrate their subscribers from defunct wholesale connectivity providers to IKANO's network while maintaining maximum subscriber loyalty.
IKANO supports the Internet operations of both traditional ISPs and Fortune 500 companies that provide private-label Internet services to their customers. "The last thing businesses want to do is to leave their subscribers stranded. Our team of customer retention experts can quickly and effectively transition a subscriber base - no matter the size - to the IKANO network within a 72-hour time frame," said Smith.
IKANO specializes in private-label Internet services and IP network infrastructure, including global wholesale dial-up access, nationwide DSL, and high-speed fixed-wireless Internet access. IKANO's fully branded product suite also includes automated accounting; 24-hour, year-round branded customer support; dynamic portals; personal Web site hosting; PageProducer Pro™ page development software; personal mail storage; family friendly filtering; anti-spam and anti-virus e-mail software; and co-location services. Subscribers within the IKANO network enjoy fast, reliable access from more than 3,400 dial-up locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
Last month, IKANO successfully transitioned the subscriber base for Outer Bounds Internet over to the IKANO network. "Everything went extremely well," Greg McCracken, managing partner for Outer Bounds, said of the transition process. "It went much better and easier than we thought. It was as smooth as silk," he said.
