IKANO Press Releases:
Title: IKANO Releases the Only Local Official Technology Pin of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games
Date: February 5th, 2002
For Release: IMMEDIATE
SALT LAKE CITY - IKANO Communications, the only official Utah-based technology supplier for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, today released the only official technology Olympic Pin available from a local company.
The pin, designed to illustrate IKANO's role as the Official Data Networking Supplier, sports the Olympic logo and incorporates Olympic colors and two network cables adjoined by the IKANO logo.
"The IKANO logo between the two cables illustrates IKANO's role in connecting the Games," said Garth Howard, IKANO President and COO, corporate communications manager for IKANO. "We expect the pin to be a favorite of local Olympic fans because it is the only technology pin available from a local company."
"We are excited to be associated with the Olympics," said Henry Smith, IKANO CEO. "It will allow us to demonstrate our abilities on a global stage. We continue to work hard to assure that the Games-time Olympic network proves to be a great success."
As the Official Data Networking Services Supplier for the Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games of 2002, IKANO will provide all data-networking services and accompanying support for the Games.
The IKANO-built data network is the largest network in existence in the state of Utah and is considered the central nervous system of all technology functions for the Games. Nearly every aspect of technology for the Games will run over this network.
"We consider the IKANO-built data network to be the central nervous system of SLOC's IT solution," said Dave Busser SLOC chief information officer.
The high-performance Olympic data network will be used to aggregate data and information from Olympic events and then distribute the information to Olympic staff, athletes, officials, the host broadcaster, and the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee (SLOC) Web site.
