- SLICE
IKANO’s SLICE portal technology lets businesses enhance corporate communications with a single login platform. IKANO has bundled a vast suite of communications tools including: Internet access, Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions, e-mail, Unified Communications, and Instant Messaging. Not only are these communications tools valuable, but the ability to incorporate third-party systems into the single login environment allows the business to further streamline operations. This enables the SLICE Portal provider to push selected content to end-users -- from customers to employees -- who receive critical information or promotions through multiple communication channels. The rules-based server effectively distributes various sets of information to selected groups of employees, depending on their role within the company.

Companies now have a highly effective online tool to push corporate communications throughout the entire, or selected segments, of the organization.
- Streaming Media Hosting
This enables a user to broadcast audio and video files over the Internet (Windows Media), right from their own Web site. Streaming media technology enables the real time or on demand distribution of audio, video and multimedia on the internet. Streaming media is the simultaneous transfer of digital media (video, voice and data) so that it is received as a continuous real-time stream. Streamed data is transmitted by a server application and received and displayed in real-time by client applications. These applications can start displaying video or playing back audio as soon as enough data has been received and stored in the receiving station’s buffer. A streamed file is simultaneously downloaded and viewed, but leaves behind no physical file on the viewer's machine.
-
T-1,T-3, ATM
Direct Internet connectivity. The Internet usage is similar to DSL in that it is an "always-on" technology, but is a lot more expensive. For example: a small business may lease a T-1 line for $600/month. A T-1 line consists of 24 separate lines that can be used for voice or data. The customer can use 12 lines for Internet (each line is equivalent to 56kbps) and the other 12 for individual phone lines within the office.
- NNTP News Server
IKANO’s News Server provides users the ability to view and post to NNTP (News Network Transfer Protocol) news groups on the Internet. The news feeds may be customized per partner to have an entire list of news feeds, or a limited amount based upon client feedback. Customers can access news through a standard news reader or via the Web-based interface.
- Unified Communications (UC)
A one-number, find me, follow me, service used to locate an individual. The user is assigned a UC number that is used as their primary phone and fax number. If a person calls the UC number, the system will place the caller on hold and will try to locate the person by ringing different phone numbers as specified by the user with the UC number.
-
Virtual Server Hosting-Automation
IKANO’s Virtual Server Hosting and Automation service lets customers register a new domain and upload content to our Web server, after filling out an online sign-up form. The Web space, mail server, and FTP permissions are set up automatically on IKANO's servers. The domain is then submitted to IKANO's registrar. In addition to new registrations, customers may also trigger the domain modification process by filling out an online form (if they have an existing domain and wish to change their hosting). A third option is to register and "park" a domain. This is used when a customer wants to purchase the domain name, but does not currently need a Web site or e-mail address.
- Virtual Private Network
IKANO’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) delivers a cheap, secure way to connect remote offices and workers to headquarters. VPNs connect two or more locations, over the Internet, in a way that offers high security at a reasonable cost. A VPN is a network that utilizes dedicated lines or the Internet or other network service as its Wide Area Network (WAN) backbone. In a VPN, dial-up connections to remote users and leased line or Frame Relay connections to remote sites are replaced by local connections to an ISP POP. A VPN allows a private intranet to be securely extended across the Internet or other network service, facilitating secure e-commerce and extranet connections with business partners, suppliers and customers.
